How Apple Can Improve Spotlight Search
(Or How Microsoft Can Beat Spotlight)

Tuesday, May 10th, 2005

Spotlight is easily the most significant feature of Mac OS 10.4 and certainly takes desktop search to impressive territory. It’s the beginning of a future where sorting through files and folders becomes silly and arduous when all you need to do is search. It’s important to note though that Spotlight is really just [...]

To All: Don’t Use Google Accelerator
To Google: Don’t Be Evil

Friday, May 6th, 2005

For your safety and the health of the web, don’t install Google Accelerator. If you already have installed it, please uninstall Google Accelerator. Google Accelerator makes the huge mistake of treating the web as if it were all content without regard for applications, which is incredibly strange for a company that works largely [...]

Adobe Reader is slow to load and reading documents is usually an arduous experience resulting in users who roll their eyes every time they realize they have to open a PDF file. I’ve never been a [...]

For lover’s of truth and science, it was great to see a kids show like Bill Nye the Science Guy hit the air. Well, Bill Nye is back with his new show The Eyes of Nye (unfortunately the website is Flash-based). I’ve watched two episodes and it’s a fantastic show. The show [...]

10.4 Release Photos and John Wiley

Sunday, May 1st, 2005

I went to the Apple store in University Village with a friend for the 10.4 release. Toying with the OS for a little while was fun and I was impressed by the size of the line out front as well as the fact that they had someone speaking in sign language during the presentations [...]
