Mobility Today says Prototypes are as Good as the Real Thing

Wednesday, May 24th, 2006

The geniuses at Mobility Today (as opposed to Yesterday or Tomorrow) claim Note to Apple..Microsoft beat you this time.. in regards to Apple and Nike’s new iPod Sport Kit and then Gizmodo somehow lamely decided to echo it.
How exactly did Microsoft “beat” Apple this time? They have a prototype called the MPTrain of a [...]

Technorati Hooks up with the Associated Press

Technorati and the Associated Press are hooking up with a little partnership. Does this mean that when AP reporters rip off bloggers that the bloggers will actually get credit? Maybe, but don’t hold your breath.

An Introduction to the Wii Controller

Monday, May 22nd, 2006

Before I get to my review of Wii games, I wanted to put an orientation out there.

This is the Wii Remote and will be the primary controller.
Motion sensing features include:

knows the distance from the screen
knows exactly where the remote is pointing to on the screen
knows it’s own position in 3D space
knows it’s speed and direction [...]

Xbox 360 Games I Didn’t See

Saturday, May 20th, 2006

I received a few emails about my coverage of Xbox 360 games missing some important titles. It would seem the best titles were kept entirely behind closed doors which certainly fed my sense that the Xbox 360 had a disappointing show. Here are some links for xbox fans to check out these three [...]

The PS3 Controller: A Missed Opportunity

The Unveiling: Take 1
Over a year ago, Sony unveiled the controller for their upcoming PlayStation 3 and everyone cringed. The PS2 Dual-Shock controller was well refined and much loved, so why was shaping it like a boomerang making it something better?
Sony took note and quietly retreated to the labs to work on something new.
The [...]

E3 2006 Preview: Lord of the Rings Online

Wednesday, May 17th, 2006

There was no end to World of Warcraft clones on the show floor and although most of them looked pretty good, none looked as if they would actually make a dent in massive success that is WoW.
I did however find myself interested in checking out Lord of the Rings Online. It looked great and [...]

E3 2006 Swag Roundup

Wednesday, May 17th, 2006

I came home with about half my suitcase full of swag. Here’s the best stuff:

A Nintendo DS Lite case (which smartly will not fit a regular sized DS)
A beta invite for Lord of the Rings Online (which I immediately handed off to my cousin because there’s no way I’d find the time)
A DS Touch [...]

E3 2006 Nintendo DS Roundup

Wednesday, May 17th, 2006

The DS had a really strong showing bolstered by the fact that DS lites were everywhere.

It’s the first time I’ve gotten my hands on one and the design of this thing is great. Small, bright screen and very iPod in style. It fixes all the deficits of the current DS model and does [...]

World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade

Tuesday, May 16th, 2006

Aside from Wii and PS3, the most requested post I’ve been asked for is on the upcoming World of Warcraft expansion. I’m not a WoW player myself, but I have a lot of friends who I discuss it with so I’ll just give you my general impressions.
Blood Elves & Draenei
Most of the features have [...]

E3 2006 Celebrity Sightings

Monday, May 15th, 2006

So, at E3 there was George Clooney, Steven Speilberg and Paris Hilton (promoting a game only Nicole Richie will buy). But I didn’t actually see any of them.
I do however offer up the following rich guys, nerd-gods, semi-celebrities and fictional characters.

First off, pacman. Seriously.

The guy who can charge you $70 for parking. [...]
