E3 2006 Xbox 360 Games Review

I was expecting to be really impressed with the Xbox 360 lineup, but I found myself disappointed. Much of this had to do with the fact that Gears of War, Halo 3 and Grand Theft Auto 4 were nowhere to be seen. It’s my understanding that the former two were shown behind closed doors, but this is largely a signal that we will not see these titles until 2007.
Too Human
I went back to look at this a couple times mainly because I’ve been a fan of Silicon Knights work in the past, but I just found myself disappointed. The graphics seemed somehow too glossy and cheap and the gameplay looked interesting, but shallow.
Sonic the Hedgehog
Yes, it’s the same Sonic as shown on the PS3. I couldn’t tell you which looked better as they both looked pretty good.
Ninety-Nine Nights

Yes, it’s pretty, but the controls often felt strange and other characters on screen slid around strangely like butter on a hot skillet. As a result, I just wasn’t impressed. Hopefully it’ll be much improved before release.
Prey
Prey looked good, if a bit too shiny (there’s a lot of that going around). Still, it’ll be a good FPS fix for those waiting for Halo 3.
Dead Rising

Ever wanted to play a videogame version of Dawn of the Dead? Well, here it is. The graphics weren’t spectacular, but the game just looked like fun.
Viva Pinata
When I watched the demo of this and hearing “There are 60 different types of pinatas!”, all I could think was “Isn’t this about 3% of Spore?” No thanks guys.
