Boing Boing Reader Survey
Interesting, but a Little Flawed

Boing Boing, a personal favorite of many (myself included), recently did a reader survey. It’s a very interesting look at what sort of audience passes through boing boing from day to day. There is a slight problem though with how they processed the data. The numbers don’t add up as they should.

Question 8 is “Do you read Boing Boing via RSS?” 1478 people answered either “Always” or “Sometimes” while the rest of the respondents either don’t use RSS or don’t know what RSS is.

Question 9 is “If you read BB via RSS, how often do you click through to the site itself?” The only results that should be shown with this question should be from the 1478 people who answered in the positive to question 8. Unfortunately, 1881 individual results are factored in. There are at least 403 replies to question 9 muddling up the results.

Here’s the boing boing reader survey.

Here’s the boing boing post on the reader survey.

Hopefully they’ll re-crunch the data to clarify the results.
