Graffiti in Iran

It’s worth taking a moment, for a number of reasons, to check out these two sites of graffiti in Iran. Culturally, there may be fewer places in the world that are more of a mystery to me just due to a sheer lack of information, but these stencils of Bob Marley on walls in Tehran display just how small our world is. Iranian Graffiti and Urban Art Report and Kolah Studio are both worth a browse.

You and I will have plenty of time to explore Iran’s graffiti during Operation WWIII when we get drafted and invade the country.
Hi , and The mystery for me is The love ,which connect us ,through knowing that real side of a bob Marley’s face on a wall.
Tom, that is the most outragous and offensive comment I have ever heard. There will be no invassion for Iran is inecent. Graffiti and war should not be listed together, for graffiti art is a form of expressiona and not a statement of terror. There are political slogans, involving graffiti which were of high recognition in the 1960’s. But what you trying to say is that you will explore the countries graffiti when americans barge in there and try to take over with the ‘over rule everything attitude’. But you’ll be so buisy trying to enforce your high ego rules on the country to notice any type of expression which is staring you right in the face. For Iran is a country that you have a lot to learn, I should know Ive been there. I also have a great interest in the sub culture and aim to explore its fundimentals of street art one day. So hope fully it wont all be destroyed.
Unknown,
I know Tom and I just want to vouch for him that he is being sarcastic. He absolutely does not want to see war with Iran and does not support the current war in Iraq.
Ok, fair play, but being sarcastic get often provoke thoughts in different ways. The way he was suggesting it, kind of offended me for I have family relations out there. I only came on the site, because I was curious to know what graffiti might look like over there and I think the ‘Alone’ artist is doing a good job. I would be out there myself doing it If I lived there. As a graphic design student in my last year, and writing m dissertation on graffiti its important to look at other art indifferent countries. But to say the least, its just interesting to see what kind of culture happens in these sorts of places, as they are so far away from this urban revolution, or are they!
