Cindy Sheehan Arrested For T-Shirt
At last night’s State of the Union address, Cindy Sheehan was arrested for wearing a t-shirt that said “2,245 Dead. How many more?” She was hauled out of the capital building and officially charged with “unlawful conduct”.
Is there a law against disagreeing with the president within a certain radius or on public grounds? Where is this freedom I keep hearing about that we’re supposedly fighting for around the world? Whether or not you agree with Ms. Sheehan, she was invited to be there, she had a ticket to be there and wearing a t-shirt should not be a crime in the United States of America.
This, along with so many other instances of the same suppression, is so incredibly sad.
Here’s the AP story on the arrest which doesn’t even bother to tell you what was on the t-shirt that warranted an arrest and here’s Cindy Sheehan’s account of her arrest at the State of the Union.
And for posterity, here’s the First Amendment to the United States Constitution.

yup. it’s called the patriot act, right?
freedom is on the march! i guess it’s left the u.s. and is marching around somewhere else?
Funny comment about the Patriot Act
I thought President Bush was going to have the 1st Amendment declared unconstitutional.
Keep in mind they also through out a congress critter’s wife who was wearing a “Support the Troops” t-shirt.
Also, if Sheehan had an ounce of brains she would have kept her coat zipped until the middle of the speech.
Excuse me, threw out…
Actually, the congress critter’s wife was asked to leave and not arrested. Sheehan was arrested and detained for quite a while. It was far from equal treatment.
