Seattle’s Pizzazz is No More

Pizzazz!, Seattle’s after-school talent show for the childless, is no more. Pizzazz! was a city-wide talent show that The Stranger ran for the last five years and just as I was about to ask if it was happening again this year, I’ve learned that, sadly, Pizzazz! is no more. (Yes, the exclamation point was part of the show’s title.)
I was fortunate enough to attend Pizzazz! in it’s first year and the talents on display ranged from a flute recital by a pair of 8 year olds to incredible beat boxing to a performance of Gladys Night and The Pips’ Midnight Train to Georgia. The catch was that it was performed by a single Pip.
Perhaps some venue will step up and bring back this crazy array of talent again to the eyes of Seattlites. One can only hope.
Until then, that lone Pip will continue to dance in my head.

A lone pip. Or rather, I should say, Pip. It’s come to that, has it.
I dare not ask what happened to the others.

Pizzazz! was the first time I ever saw the Trachtenberg Family Slideshow Players. It’s sad to see it go.
