Some Airport Express Feature Requests

I love my Airport Express and use it to extend my WiFi network, easily play music from anywhere in the apartment, add my vonage phone to the network and send print jobs to my Brother Laser Printer. It’s great buying a multifaceted device like this and finding that you make use of every advertised feature and open port available. That said, there’s always room for improvement and here are a few simple suggestions.
- Airtunes should be able to play to multiple Airport Express speakers simultaneously. Some other solutions are capable of this, so hopefully we will see this soon.
- It should be as easy to send out audio to the Airport Express for the DVD Player software as it is for iTunes
- This is more of a suggestion for the AirTunes software, but you should have the ability to play audio through any computer’s speakers that are AirTunes enabled. So, if I’m visiting my brother and his drool-worthy Powermac G5, I should be able to play a song from my laptop over WiFi to his Powermac’s much better speakers.
- Last but not least, I would love to see the addition of a video out port on a future edition. I realize Apple must be working on some Mac to TV bridge, but whether that form will be smartly simple, like the addition of a video out on the Airport Express, or a rich polished experience, like the rumors of a small tablet touch-screen controller we’ve heard about for some time, we’ll just have to wait and see.
