A Quick Review of iPhoto 6

I’m generally enjoying the improvements in iPhoto 6.
Here’s the breakdown.
The good:
- It’s much faster. I run a 1.25 GHz Powerbook with only 512 MB of RAM and it speeds along quite nicely.
- I love the new full screen mode and it is now my default for photo editing and comparing shots.
The possibly good:
- iPhoto can now subscribe to rss feeds of photos which it dubs photocasts. Neat idea, but I’m not sure if I’ll ever think to open it up to get a run of photos. What I really need is my newsreader to integrate with iPhoto when it runs into a lot of photos.
The bad:
- You can only photocast to a .Mac account? What is this crap?
- Red eye tools continue to do a crap job of it.
- Could we please get some more advanced export options in this application?

The question is: has it fixed the persistent, and annoying, bug that when photos are archived to CD or DVD the keywords get all jumbled? I haven’t been able to back up my archive of many too many photos, because I won’t be able to find anything again.
Or, maybe they’re taking a cue from John Cage and just saying that whatever photo they assign your keyword to should the photo you want, regardless of intent.
I haven’t a clue as I haven’t used this feature in the past. I’ve generally backed up my photos by backing up it’s entire working folder.
