Obvious Diversion

If you’re upgrading to Mac OS 10.4, you’re going to find that unfortunately Tivo Desktop no longer works. As evidenced in this Tivo Community forum thread and on Tivo’s own site, Tivo Desktop v1.9.1 is not compatible with Mac OS 10.4.

Update: There is a solution to the problem.

Raising Questions

Forum members raise an interesting question about what this problem reveals. Development kits of 10.4 have been out for quite some time and any software team that needed to test and update their programs for compatibility certainly had the opportunity to do so. The fact that Tivo did not and did not even post this incompatibility until after 10.4 came out leads one to believe that Tivo isn’t working on the Mac Tivo desktop at all. Obviously, this is all conjecture, but it’s not a far out explanation for what happened.
