What if Tivo’s “Branded PC Experience” is Simply Tivo Without the Television?

Ever since Tivo CEO Mike Ramsay announced a “TiVo branded PC experience” in their 4th quarter conference call, there’s been speculation from TV Harmony, Thomas Hawk, Om Malik and others that this may mean a Tivo software PVR package that would compete with the likes of Microsoft’s Media Center.

But, what if it’s simply Tivo without the television? For $100 US after rebate, you have a little box that can sit in the closet and it grabs all your video for you. Then with Tivo’s software, you schedule, watch and burn programs completely from your PC or any other PC-based device. The Tivo box gets the programs I want and I watch it on any PC-based device on the network.

Frankly, it’s anyone’s guess at this point.
