Obvious Diversion

Toyota is getting ready to expand their hybrid line based on their deserved success with the Prius including a hybrid truck and a sports car. My favorite though is the Toyota PM. It’s clearly much farther on the concept end of the spectrum, but it’s a product category I’d love to see happen. Check out the other concept pictures. Great stuff.

I have a bit of a fascination with alternative transit, previously exposed in the coolest tricycle ever and in my support for the Seattle Monorail. I’m a big fan of mass transit. New York’s subway is it’s most essential asset and here in Seattle, the bus system is healthy, although it would be nice if the buses ran a bit more frequently as well as somewhat later.

Getting people around cheaply and safely is a huge challenge with the growing cost and scarcity of oil paired with an increasingly developed world. Hopefully Toyota will expand on their success with the Prius by creating a whole new class of transit.
