Finally, A Real WiFi Phone:
The Linksys WIP300

This is the year we’re finally going to get some wifi phones that don’t look like they were manufactured in 1989. (Seriously guys, what’s up with the monochrome screens?)
Linksys is going to be the first out of the gate with the WIP300 shipping this month. With support for SIPv2, 802.11b/g, POP3 email and SMS, it looks like a good start. I won’t be making the leap just yet, but I’ll be anxiously awaiting the reviews to hit the web and the competition to respond. The form factor and screen look decent. The big question mark for me at this point is what software is it running?
Rumor is Nokia is on the verge of announcing VoIP phones, so hopefully that will push the other major manufacturer to jump into the market as well.
Wifi coverage may not be ideal for mobile use at this point, but if you’re only an occasional mobile user, the $8.70 mobile phone plan is going to be extraordinarily tempting.

The 8.70 BYOD plan on broadvoice is on top of your service plan. So if you pick the 24.99 plan its 24.99+8.70 to use your own device per month.
Not true. You can get the baseline BYOD plan for $8.70 a month. Nothing more. I know because I’ve had a plan for quite some time.
