Internet Explorer 7 Won’t Support CSS2?

If this story about Internet Explorer 7 not supporting CSS standards properly turns out to be true, it will be an incredible disappointment. We now develop for web standards and then waste a ton of time twisting it to look right in Internet Explorer 6. Microsoft does not gain the love of developers by wasting their time in this fashion. Those who would say that we should just develop for Internet Explorer because it is the majority platform are setting themselves up for a nightmare in the near future. As a web developer, browsers on PCs are soon going to be joined by browsers on a myriad of devices. Developing for standards gives you one platform to target instead of twisting out a variation of you code for every single platform. If IE7 does get released without proper CSS support, it may be time to simply ignore it and let pages look ugly in IE7. New users then adopting IE7 will feel that their upgrade was flawed, not your website.

Just one more reason to install the Firefox web browser and make it the default browser on every box you can get your hands on.
